Paloma Angelina Lopez supports Comunidad Maya Pixan Ixim through administrative support and by maintaining connections between Maya peoples and our relatives and allies in the Cherokee Nation. Paloma works directly with Cherokee cultural and spiritual leaders and language protectors in the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma so that we are good relatives and engage in activities that are mutually reinforcing of our rights to sovereignty and self-determination as Indigenous peoples. Paloma is a former student of the Native American Community Academy (NACA) and has finished an Americorps teaching assistant position with NACA. She is currently raising funds for the Comunidad Maya Pixan Ixim, Maya Education Program so that we can better support the language needs of Maya peoples across borders.
