Jorge Izquierdo is a fantastic educator with deep experience working in popular education in the U.S. and Colombia. Jorge has applied popular education methodologies to his work with Indigenous peoples in Colombia and working with Comunidad Maya Pixan Ixim in Omaha, NE with great results. Jorge's teaching is transformative and supports the development of new generations of Maya leadership. 

Jorge also leads our communication team and efforts while working with Maya youth on our Maya Radio and film projects. Jorge is a truly inspirational teacher and leader. His gentle caring nature, inquisitive style, friendly smile, and high level of professionalism inspires Maya youth seeking safe spaces and educational support at our community center in Omaha, NE. We are deeply grateful to Jorge for all that he so generously gives to our organization and community. Jorge is an important part of our community and a very good friend to Maya people.
